Elder L01 provided Researcher Joyce with a series of photos that represented his home of Laos. He recalled the temple in Vientiane, That Luang: “When I was small, 10 years old, sometimes I go myself to be with the monks. I went very often. So when we came to America, the whole Lao community in Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, together, we put money together for a down payment and built a temple, called Buddhavong.” Wat Lao Buddhavong in Manassas, Virginia, developed in 1980, is situated on 58 acres of land and is one of the oldest and largest Buddhist temples in the United States.
