Celebrate the opening of the long-awaited (re)Location exhibition with special guests, food, and giveaways! There will be Lao and Korean interpreters for the special program, which starts at 5pm. RSVP here.

The special program will feature:

Guest speaker Jacob Phonesavanh Singhavong is a first-generation Lao American, is an associate clinical worker. He is also the author of the children’s book Sticky Rice for Lunch, inspired by his passion for cultural preservation, diversity, and educational equity.

Guest speaker Joon Ok Kim, a (re)Location research participant, will be interviewed by her daughter, researcher/artist Helen H. Kim, about her experiences as a first-generation Korean American who has resided in the Greater Los Angeles area since her immigration to the U.S. in 1982 at the age of 33.

Featured musician Jeff Schroeder left the Smashing Pumpkins last October to pursue a solo career. A second-generation Korean American, he recently released the ambient guitar album Metanoia—a meditation on the themes of loss, fragmentation, and transformation. He will also be participating in LMU Art Therapy Research Institutes Artist Dialogues on September 26.
